Job Description:
Macmillan Publishers, a leading global publishing house, offers passionate recent graduates the opportunity to join their Graduate Internship Program in 2024. This six-month program provides a comprehensive introduction to the world of publishing, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in diverse areas, work alongside experienced professionals, and contribute to the success of renowned authors and books.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with various aspects of the publishing process, depending on your specific placement, such as:
- Editorial: Manuscript evaluation, copyediting, proofreading, and author liaison.
- Marketing & Publicity: Event planning, social media management, and media outreach.
- Sales & Production: Sales support, production coordination, and rights & permissions.
- Learn industry-standard tools and practices through on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Contribute to meaningful projects and tasks, playing a vital role in supporting the publication of impactful books.
- Participate in professional development workshops and seminars to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Network with industry professionals and gain valuable insights into potential career paths within publishing.

Requirements:
- Recent graduate (within the past year) with a minimum of a 2:1 (UK) or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Publishing, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong academic record demonstrating your academic ability and dedication.
- Passion for books and publishing with a genuine interest in the industry and its various facets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Editing and proofreading skills are desirable for editorial placements.
- Marketing, social media, or sales experience is a plus for respective placements.
Experience:
- Prior internship experience in publishing or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
