Job Description:

The NATO Internship Programme offers a unique opportunity for university students and recent graduates to gain valuable work experience in the heart of an international political and military alliance focused on promoting global security. Interns will be placed within the NATO International Staff, the International Military Staff, or other NATO agencies and bodies at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Responsibilities:

Assist with various tasks depending on the assigned department, potentially including:

  • Research and analysis on security-related issues.
  • Contributing to project development and implementation.
  • Supporting with communication and public outreach activities.
  • Drafting reports and presentations.

Requirements:

  • Be a citizen of a NATO member country [List of NATO member countries can be found on NATO website].
  • Be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
  • Be currently enrolled in a university program (at least in the third year) or a recent graduate (obtained your highest degree less than a year ago).
  • Have strong proficiency in one of the two official NATO languages: English or French. Working knowledge of the second language is an asset.

Skills (plus points):

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in international affairs and security issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with research databases (advantageous).

Experience (plus points):

  • Previous internship experience in an international organization or government agency (not mandatory).
  • Relevant coursework or volunteer experience in international relations or political science.
