Job Description:
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) Internship is offering a unique opportunity for undergraduates and aspiring professionals through its 2024 Internship and Apprenticeship Schemes. As the charity that saves lives at sea, the RNLI is committed to training the next generation of leaders, innovators, and dedicated professionals. Interns and apprentices will work on a variety of projects and tasks that align with the RNLI’s mission, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as engineering, operations, fundraising, digital marketing, IT, and community engagement.
These programs offer a deep dive into the workings of a respected and vital institution, allowing participants to develop professionally while contributing to the RNLI’s life-saving efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Support RNLI teams in delivering critical projects and operations.
- Assist with research, data collection, and analysis related to ongoing projects or public safety initiatives.
- Help plan and execute community engagement, fundraising, and awareness campaigns.
- Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of RNLI equipment and systems (engineering placements).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the efficiency of RNLI operations.
- Attend relevant training sessions and workshops as part of your professional development.
- Uphold the RNLI’s values of safety, trust, and community in all tasks.
Qualifications:
- For internships: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, ideally related to the role you’re applying for (e.g., engineering, marketing, IT, etc.).
- For apprenticeships: Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
- Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- A genuine interest in the RNLI’s mission to save lives at sea.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience is required, though any relevant coursework, volunteer work, or internships will be viewed favorably.
- Engineering interns and apprentices with prior project experience in technical roles will have an advantage.
- Experience in customer service, community outreach, or public relations is beneficial for marketing, fundraising, and engagement roles.
Skills:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
