Position Purpose
The Tower Hamlets Internship Trainee Program aims to equip trainees with the skills and experience necessary to launch a successful career in public service or other professional sectors. The program is designed to offer hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Interns will work across different departments, gaining insight into how local government operates and contributes to community development.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an intern trainee, you will:
- Assist in the daily operations of various council departments, including but not limited to housing, planning, social services, community engagement, and public health.
- Support specific projects and initiatives aimed at improving public services and local governance.
- Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare reports to inform decision-making processes.
- Attend meetings and contribute to discussions with team members, supervisors, and stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support where required, including preparing documents, responding to inquiries, and managing communications.
- Engage with community members and other stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns.
- Learn and adhere to the council’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Education
- Applicants must be either current university students or recent graduates (within the last 2 years) from any discipline.
- A strong interest in public service, community development, or local governance is highly desirable.
Experience
- No prior work experience is required. However, previous internships, volunteer work, or involvement in community projects will be considered an asset.
- Applicants should demonstrate a passion for learning, adaptability, and a proactive approach to work.
